El documental «Missile from the East» (2021) narra la increíble historia del piloto de motos alemán Ernst Degner , quien en 1961 escapó de la Alemania del Este, cruzando la Cortina de Hierro con su familia. Degner fue uno de los mejores corredores de la época y, tras su huida, firmó con Suzuki y ganó el campeonato mundial, transformando a la marca japonesa en un gigante en el mundo del motociclismo.

La película, dirigida por Justin Stokes , combina géneros de documental, biografía y deportes, explorando no solo la vida de Degner, sino también el contexto político de la Guerra Fría y su impacto en el deporte y las decisiones personales. El reparto incluye a James G. Nunn como Ernst Degner, Aliona Baranova como Gerda Degner, y entrevistas con personajes clave del mundo del motociclismo.

Entre los productores destacan Justin Stokes , Nick Taussig , y Mike Wells , mientras que la cinematografía estuvo a cargo de Malte Rosenfeld para las reconstrucciones
